WECO Systems International, the innovative and leading Systems Integration Company has made computer donation to selected schools in Lagos and Anambra States respectively. This donation was made in memory of her late founding CEO Uchenna Obidike and also part of their commitment to corporate social responsibility initiatives.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Weco Systems International, Mr. Obinna Ekwonwa. “Weco Systems International is poised to carry on with the legacy Uchenna Obidike left behind, to further ensure that those things he was passionate about come to pass even as his memory and great vision LIVES on. One of his passion while he was alive was to see Nigeria become an ICT driven economy that can compete globally and also believing that home grown Nigerian ICT companies like WECO SYSTEMS can compete globally with great impacts. little wonder within a short space of time Weco systems was rated among the top ICT companies in Nigeria based on his quite engaging visionary and strategic leadership. He further reiterated that Mr. Uchenna Obidike loved to encourage and empower young people especially the less privileged by investing in their lives to make a difference in Nigeria
In line with these dreams – Weco systems group decided in loving memory of Late Uchenna and as part of our corporate social responsibility to donate computer systems fully equipped with UPS to selected schools this year.
The donation ceremony which took place in Lagos had the Principals and few students representing each beneficiary schools for Lagos on Monday, August 4th, at Eti OSA East LCDA and in Otuocha Anambra East L.G.A on the 7th of August 2014.
The beneficiary schools for this year cut across schools in Lagos state where Weco is headquartered and Anambra state, Mr. Obidike’s home state.
The beneficiaries for Lagos Include: Community Junior Secondary School, Olomu Ajah and Lagos State Junior Model College, Badore. While the beneficiaries schools in Anambra are: Girls high school umueri, Father Joseph’s secondary school Aguleri, Madonna secondary school Nneyi, umueri and sacred heart secondary school, Nteje.
In his remark, Dr. Laz Okafor, Director of Education Anambra State who represented the State Governor, said “This gesture by Weco Systems International is one of a kind and well appreciated by the state as this will help the beneficiary schools provide a further enabling environment for learning of ICT as it would help our young people to be groomed to compete globally and also advance our nation forward in terms of capacity building. Knowing that the world is becoming a global village.
Mr. Ekwonwa urged the teachers and management of these beneficiary schools to take time to put these children through all the necessary education in ICT that this infrastructure can offer. The systems are already preloaded with necessary applications….and comes with UPS! And to the students, he charged them to embrace this learning opportunity to prepare themselves ready to compete in our today’s world amongst their peers and put in their best to succeed.
